Of course. Just use DOS commands.

Sure. If you have ARexx documentation, I'm sure you can find it. If you
don't, check out ARexxGuide from Aminet.

Commands are normally synchronous (though the AREXX message port provides
an exception), but a host program could process its commands
asynchronously.
